It was deep into the night in February 1987 when a young woman left a basket filled with blankets on the steps of a fire house in Las Vegas, Nevada. Blankets didn't seem to be the only thing in the basket, as when one of the fire fighters was leaving for the night, he heard the cries within the blankets. There he found baby girl with brown fuzz on top of her head and burns on her torso and legs. In the hospital they called her baby Jayne Doering, named for the fireman who brought her in, Jay Doring. She was in the hospital for a few weeks as the doctors cleaned up the burns and waited to make sure that infection didn't set in. At 5 months old, she was sent to a foster home and she stayed with the couple until she was 3. The family then had their own children and as Jayne was a handful, decided they couldn't care for her any longer so the little girl made her way into her first orphanage.

Growing up wasn't pleasant for the little girl, nor was it particularly bad. She went to school, went back to the home and spent time with the other children who also wanted desperately to get adopted. It started when other girls her own age began getting scooped up by families. What did they have that she didn't? So instead of worrying and wondering, she began taking on the traits the other girls had shown. She wore clothing they left behind and used the stories they once told. No one found this odd, as all orphaned children want to be adopted. In her first foster home at 6, Jayne asked to be called Frankie. She asked for dark clothing and used sharpies to change her hair color, much to her foster mother's dismay. This only lasted a few weeks, and once she was transferred to another home, she became Isabelle, which was the name of her most recent foster sister, she stopped trying to color her hair and she wore a lot of pink. This continued, as she went through the system, she became the last person she came in contact with. It was noticed by the girl's home at 14 when she was now asking to be called Brant and sexually harassing older girls then getting into fights. Jayne was sent to see a psychiatrist and taken out of the home where she transformed into a sad, lonely and desperate young woman longing to be loved. This seemed normal, so she was asked to make regular visits but was otherwise deemed just an orphan in need of love.

At 17, Jayne met Elena Steele at the school she was placed into. She was Cheryl at the time and the two became fast friends and Jayne convinced Elena that it was her idea to dye Jayne's hair the same blonde as hers. They began buying the same outfits, they ate the same foods, they applied to the same universities and when Elena got into Stanford, so did Jayne. Except she didn't receive the good news, because her grades weren't as great as Elena's were. This didn't stop Jayne from allowing Elena's parents to rent an apartment for the girls near campus and once school started, she walked with her best friend and then left into the city. She found a job cleaning offices, stealing things when she could and using the name Elena Steele with her co-workers. It didn't take long for Jayne to get caught stealing and she was fired, fined $500 as well, or else her boss would press charges. Unfortunately Jayne couldn't pay it off and when her best friend was arrested, she took Elena's classes for the two days while she and her parents sorted out the problem. Which happened to be Jayne, who was soon arrested for fraud. With her ex-employer's testimony and Elena and her parent's giving statements about Jayne/Cheryl, she was sent to prison for a year.

Prison didn't faze Jayne much, she made friends with the women in charge and kept her nose clean until she was released, told not to leave the state. She got a job in her first week and found Rebecca Wrigley's driver's licence in the street. They looked nothing alike initially, but after returning the other woman's ID and making friends with her, claiming she was Elena Steele from Nevada, she picked up some of her ticks, habits and once the new ID was created, she had a licence, a credit card and red car as she drove out of state into her new life.

Between 20 and 27, Jayne was many women and one or two men, but those attempts didn't last very long. She was journalists and reporters moving to small towns until her employers got wise, she was art majors and librarians, actresses and song writers until someone realized she was bluffing. None of Jayne's identities were plain. She wanted to be so much more, so she only became those who could be extraodinary. It didn't take much for Jayne to move on again. Sometimes she preferred it. Conning people had it's downsides every now and then. She met many people in her travels. Petty crooks and hackers to crime families and fellow psychopaths. She made friends and contacts with them, allowing herself easy access and help whenever she needed it. When she arrived in New York she was Daedalus Boch and she got herself a job in an art gallery, because Dae was an artist herself. Here she met Annette Carver. Annette was a kind and beautiful woman with very little family, a sick mother and few friends; she lost them because she spent all of her time taking care of her sick mother. She worked part time at a not for profit, but was a social worker before she left her job to care for her mom full time. Jayne as Dae made friends with her immediately, and once Annette's mother passed, Jayne offered Annette a room in her large and spacious apartment. The girl took the bait and the two became very friendly, they even began sleeping together. Jayne left her job at the art gallery and found work in a soup kitchen as an in house therapist under the name Annette Carver. When the real Annette found out, the two fought, Annette threatening to go to the police about Jayne's obsession and fraud. During the scuffle, Jayne smashed Annette's head into a glass table, killing her. She quickly went about business, getting rid of signs of Annette, shutting down her social media, emptying her bank account, losing and getting new ID printed. She drove the body off a pier into the ocean in New Jersey, but not before cutting off her fingers, toes and pulling all of her teeth.

Three months after the murder, Jayne moved to Boston as Annette. She got a job as a receptionist, informing those who looked her resume that she had grown wary of working with poor, unfortunate souls, and wanted to do something lighter. She lives in a two bed flat, initially using money from Annette's inheritance to cover moving costs and a down payment. She leads a mild life, catching herself whenever she feels the urge to move on. Boston feels so much like home now, she wouldn't want to move on. Unless of course, she had to.

personality

jayne's personality depends on her mood and who she is acting like that day. As Annette she is sunny and chipper, always helpful and full of vim and vigor. as jayne, she can be hard and icy. she growls responses and glares maniacally. janye is mostly around in the mornings and when she is woken up unexpectedly. She's very good at playing Annette.

she's a bit obsessive and has an addictive personality but she picks up people's ticks and quirks and copies them into her own personality

she's fairly good at her copying others and who she must hide things from. if she "borrowed" your silly habit of saying "haych" instead of h, you wouldn't know about it unless someone else mentioned it.

facts ⤑ jayne was badly scarred on her lower torso and upper thighs as a baby. the doctors presume it was from boiling hot water, but no one knows except jayne's unknown mother

⤑ jayne is very observant and well versed at reading people. not only can she almost perfectly copy body language and speech patterns, but she can also change her personality to replicate that of her victim's.

⤑ she's a talented makeup artist, changing her appearance through contouring her face as well as changing her hair color when she switches through her victims.

⤑ doesn't have passion for much, but for a good length of time she wanted to be an actress. she began emulating marilyn monroe, which people found cute, but switched it on and off through the years until elena. she realized she'd never be famous whilst she was in jail and her dreams slipped away
